This event introduces the outcomes of the CLEARING HOUSE project, a Sino-European research project on urban forests function as a nature-based solution.

Twenty-six international partners – including ten case study cities from Europe and China – have been working in a collaborative research and knowledge exchange project on how urban forests as nature-based solutions contribute to sustainable urban futures.

The session will introduce the outcomes of the project, including:

  • A novel typology of urban forests as nature-based solutions.

  • Guidelines for local authorities and other public organisations on implementing urban forests as nature-based solutions.

  • ‘City of Trees’ inspirational package for learning with trees and nature (for 10-14 years old)

  • Business models for urban trees as nature-based solutions

  • CLEARING HOUSE project Spatial Information and Knowledge Hub

  • Links to network initiatives across Europe, China and beyond

The session will end with a discussion of the research and operational needs that shape future collaboration between European and Chinese partners, as well as exploring regional collaboration around the world.
